Learner guide: Wise Staff Client Circulation

Course overview

The Wise Staff client: Circulation course is an overview of the Circulation menu, including how to: check in/out materials, manage holds, and pay fines. This course is best suited for library staff who are new to Wise and already have a basic understanding of navigating the Staff client.

 Note: This learner guide is designed to accompany the Wise Staff client: Circulation course.

Circulate items

Perform check-in and check-out actions in the Wise staff client.

Circulation Options

Check-in options available in the Wise Staff client

Patron check-in: this workflow should be used when staff check-in materials and a receipt is requested for an individual's checked-in materials.

Family check-in: option for when a family returns items together and requires a check-in receipt.

Bulk Check-in: (aka Outdoor book return mode) used for checking in items returned via book drop.

Check Out: Learn how to check out items to customers in the Wise Staff client.

 

Financials

Financial transactions, such as charging and waving of fines are manged in the Wise Staff Client:

Mark item lost or damaged: charge patron for an item that they have returned damaged or lost.

Pay a fine: view and settle customer fines in the Wise staff client.

Waive a fine: view and waive customer fines or fees.

 

Patron Holds

Manage hold requests in the Wise Staff Client:

Place a hold: learn how to place a hold on an item from the Wise Client Catalog

Cancel or delete a hold: cancel a pending hold request in the Wise staff client.

Request materials in a sequence: holds requests placed in a sequential order, so that when one item is returned, the next hold in the sequence become active.

 

Circulation Reports

Run some of the most common circulation reports:

Shelf list report: generates a report that shows a real-time overview of what items are currently on hold.

Hold Shelf: will allow you to create a report of unclaimed holds.

Discarded Report: creates a report of discarded items.
