Check In / Check Out

Learn how to check in and check out items to a customer in the Wise staff client.

Basic check out

To check out materials to a customer:

  1. Open the Check out screen.
  2. Enter or scan the customer barcode into the Customer number field.

     Note:  If the customer does not have their library card number, you can search for their account by name:

    1. Type the customer's last name into the Customer number field and press enter. The Search customer via customer details screen opens.
    2. Provide additional details in any of the customer fields, or select the correct customer account from the list in the right pane. Double click or press enter to open the customer's account.
  3. Scan the barcodes of the item(s) the customer is checking out.
  4. To end the check out process, navigate to Close > Close checkout to close the session and print a receipt.

Bulk check in a.k.a Outdoor book return mode

Outdoor book return mode is an option within the Check in menu.

To check in items using Outdoor book return mode:

  1. Navigate to Circulation > Check in.
  2. Click Check in > Outdoor book return mode, or press F8 to enable Outdoor book return mode. 
  3. Check items in by scanning the barcode into the Item field.

Individual / Family check in

To check in returned materials:

  1. Navigate to Circulation > Check In, or click the Check In box on the home screen. The Check-In window opens.
  2. Scan or type a barcode into the Item bar to check it in. The customer information appears at the top of the screen. See Check in screen for more information. 

     Note: To check in items from multiple customers at once without customer information opening, Outdoor book return mode can be enabled.
