Shelf conversion

Learn how to create shelf conversion rules to define which shelves materials belong on in Wise.

Shelf conversion is located in the Wise configuration manager at OCLC WIse > Items and locations > Local location management > Shelf conversionThe Shelf Conversion classification table defines which shelf an item of a certain material or media type should be placed, and under which conditions it should be placed there. It also determines which label type to use, and whether Youth data or language plays a role in the placement.

Note: Item overviews in Wise only contain data that is stored with an item.

It is recommended that your library uses a separate shelf code for each individual sorting on the shelves in the building.

Create or edit a shelf conversion rule

To create or edit a shelf conversion rule:

  1. In the Wise configuration manager, go to OCLC Wise > Items and Locations > Local location management > Shelf conversion.
