Setting up TCP/IP exporting for Record Manager

Symptom

• You want to set up exporting records from Record Manager to Wise, and you need to know how to create the proper permissions.

Resolution

You will need to first create the proper roles in the Wise Manager to allow the exports. 

1. In systemWise > Access codes and authorizations > Access authorizations, go into the System tab
2. Create a new User Role with the System Role "Manage Connexion"
3. Change the system level of the Role function to "Delete", which should change the Branch and Institution levels to Delete as well
4. Save the changes
5. Navigate to a different table in the Manager, or close and reopen the page. This refreshes the list of roles available for the next steps
6. Back in Access authorizations, open the Users tab. Here, there are two options:
   • Find a current staff account and click "Extra role." Add the new user role to the account and save, OR
   • Create a new, generic user with the new user role

Once this is created, the user with the newly-created user role should be able to export records to Wise from Record Manager.

Once the Wise account is set up, you can set up your User Preferences in Record Manager:

1. In the General tab, ensure the format is set to MARC 21 with UTF-8 Unicode
2. In the TCP/IP tab, enter the following information:
   1. Host Name: Your server address. Contact OCLC Support if needed
   2. Port Number: 9345
   3. Authentication: Login ID
   4. ID: Your Wise username
   5. Password: Your Wise password
   6. Connection Delay: 0.25
   7. Connection Attempts: 3
   8. Gateway Export Response Messaging: Check the box to Use Messaging, set timeout to 5
3. Click Save in the top left corner

Once that setup is complete, try exporting a record to Wise. If you have any questions, contact OCLC Support with your library name and a screenshot of your TCP/IP tab in Record Manager.
