Set up collections access for your library
Learn how to set up collections access for your library in the Wise staff client.
The changing collections function in Wise allows libraries to group materials to circulate between locations and to customers.
Configure the collections branch
Collections are created and managed by library staff from a system branch created specifically for creating and managing collections. The collections branch is not a physical location and has no customers, policies or loan periods. This allows the library to create special lending rules for the collection.
- In the Wise configuration manager, add a new branch called Collections. In the Category field, select S - Staff.
- Add the newly created branch to (TABVCG) Branch group searchlight.
- Configure the branch group settings for the collections branch with the following permissions:
- Accepts customers of - Collections branch and Main branch
- Change copy location for - Collection branch and (9999) All branches
- Create collection subjects in (TABWON) Collection subjects.
- Include a subject for temporary collections with Code OTO (One-time-only) and no value for Loan period in days.
- Add any other subjects your library might use for generating collections.
Create and assign a collection management role
Staff responsible for creating and managing connections need the Collection manager role.
- In the Wise configuration manager, have your system administrator create a new System role. This role should be granted the following functions:
- Allowed to change customers
- Can perform service desk activities
- Items management
- Add the new role to the User accounts allowed to manage collections for the collections branch.
