Library-at-home

Learn how to use and configure library-at-home services in Wise.

Library-at-home allows library staff to manage hold requests and wish lists, and deliver and track materials for customers who are physically unable to visit the library. Customers who are unable to come to the library on their own sign up for library-at-home service. Library staff or volunteers deliver materials to the customers at home. In coordination with library staff, the customer determines which titles they would like to borrow. Wise supports the process in the following ways:

  • Holds - Titles can be placed on hold and delivered to the customer when they are available.
  • Wish list - Customers can put titles on their personal wish list in the online catalog. The library-at-home function can leverage the wish list.
  • Library-at-home profile - Titles are selected from the customer's profile. Similar to acquisition profiles, library-at-hope profiles can be generated by the system.

Customers determine the type and quantity of materials they would like to receive. Library staff or volunteers are given a delivery role in the staff client and can log into the system to manage materials. Each library-at-home staff/volunteer member is linked to a group of employees/volunteers. By default, library-at-home customers are served by their home branch.
