Cancel checkout
Cancel checkout allows users to cancel a loan. Cancel checkout mode can also be enabled by pressing F4. Once enabled, scan the item barcode to cancel the loan. Once the cancelation of an item is complete, the system will return to normal checkout mode. There are two conditions for canceling a loan:
-
The item must be checked out to the selected customer.
-
The item must be canceled in the same session in which it was checked out.
Any costs charged for the loan will be credited back to the customer.
This action also applies to renewals made during the session. When a renewal is canceled, the due date and status will revert to their previous settings. When a loan is canceled, the item will be checked back in. This process will not take into account a possible hold status of this copy for the selected customer. A new hold request will not be created.
system option must be enabled. Contact OCLC Support for assistance.
Note: If the amount for a check out has been paid and the check out is canceled, the amount will be withdrawn as a deposit with the customer. The COUR_RGInspection mode
Inspection mode is only offered if the system option INZAGE is enabled. Contact OCLC Support for assistance.
Inspection mode can also be enabled by pressing F7. If this mode is enabled, it will be displayed next to the barcode field. Inspection mode is used to check out temporary items to a customer for in-library use only. The return date for the borrowed material will be set to the current date. Items borrowed using inspection mode are not included in lending statistics and lending fees are not charged. If an item is not returned on the same day, it will be handled as a normal loan and will be eligible for fines.
Inspection mode can be used for materials such as library equipment or other items that should not circulate longer than the same day period.

Change return date
Return dates can be extended during a lending session. To change the date, select Change return date or press Alt+C. A calendar box appears. Select the desired return date and click OK to update. The adjusted return date appears beside the barcode field.
Renewal fees will not be applied when the return date is changed. Renewal fees are only applied when Additional extension periods is used. When a new lending session begins, the standard return date will be used again. Items checked out with a changed return date are considered one loan. If the item is already checked out to the customer, changing the return date will always be considered a renewal.
Note: If the customer has the Special customer account type, the Change return date option is not available.
Extra renewal period
The Extra renewal period function can be used to extend the due date for items that are currently checked out. The extension period does not have to be the same length as the normal lending period. Unlike Change return date, costs are calculated on the basis of the loan period. This option can be enabled by pressing Ctrl+F7.
The function must be enabled before the items are checked out to the customer. If the customer does not mention that the items should have been loaned for an extra renewal period, the items can be scanned again. The policies indicate whether additional extension costs must also be paid. After the loan session has been concluded, the next customer will again work with the regular return period.
Note: If the customer has the Special customer account type, the Extra renewal period option is not available.
Lend without lending fee
With this option, items are checked out without any fees. Lend without lending fee can be accessed through the menu or by pressing Shift+F7.
This function only works when the System option GLG_BNG is enabled. Contact OCLC Support for assistance.
Note: If the customer has the Special customer account type, the Lend without lending fee option is not available.
To checkout
If the checkout menu is accessed while in Check in mode, the To checkout option switches the screen to checkout mode. This option can also be accessed by pressing F3.
