Creating SSS profiles and SIP2 ports

Learn how to create SSS profiles and SIP2 ports in the Wise Manager.

SSS profiles

A Self Service System (SSS) profile for self-service is not required, but it is recommend. The behavior of the self-service machine is determined by the SSS profile you select and can indicate how to check materials in, out and how to handle exceptions. Generally, every time you need a SIP2 port, you can also create as SSS profile.

To create an SSS Profile:

  1. Log into the Wise Manager
  2. Navigate to OCLC Wise > Ports and profile management > Profiles > Self Service System (SSS) profiles
  3. Click New

Note: It is best practice to create an SSS Profile's name match the subsequent SIP2 port name.

SIP2 ports

SIP2 ports can be created for physical terminals like self-checks, automated material handlers (AMH) or sorters, as well as payment terminals etc.. SIP2 ports can also be created for services, i.e. anything that requires authentication through SIP2, e.g. Kanopy, Axis 360, EZProxy etc.

There are two pieces of configuration for the SIP2 terminals:

  • Create and assign a port
  • Create a port password

To create a SIP2 port:

  1. Log into the Wise Manager
  2. Navigate to OCLC Wise > Port and profile management > Ports > SIP terminals
  3. Click New

To create port fields:

  1. Navigate to Finance > Booking codes > Journals  Note: Contact your implementation manager for more information and support.
  2. Set the following fields:
    • Branch
    • Cash drawer - Payment terminals that accept cash payments need to have a Cash drawer configured.
    • Bank - Payment terminals that accept credit card payments, need a Banks (not Bank) configured.
    • Profile

Payment terminals that accept both, need both Cash drawers and Banks should be configured.

Set port password

To create a port password:

  1. Log into the Wise Manager
