Carousel profiles

Learn how to create a carousel profile to connect to a port within the Wise configuration manager.

After carousel rules and carousel planks are defined, carousel profiles are established. Profiles specify which planks are used for each profile. Profiles are linked to ports so that specific carousel items are displayed, depending on how and from where they are accessed. A profile can be connected to multiple ports. On a screen, up to two planks can be displayed simultaneously, depending on the width. This means that two planks can be selected for a profile. One plank displays on the screen, and below it a preview of the other planks that can be viewed.

To manage carousel profiles:

  1. In the Wise configuration manager, go to OCLC Wise  > Carousel > Carousel profiles.
  2. Click Open next to your system.
  3. Click New to create a new profile, or click Detail next to an existing profile to edit. The Info column profiles window opens.
  4. Enter profile information. Click Change to edit existing details.
    Field/section Description
Organization Automatically filled by the system.
Description Text description of the profile. The name of the profile will appear in the interface.
Available Check the box to display the profile in the system.
    Profile shelves/All shelves

Select the shelves (Carousel planks) to include in this profile. All available planks display in the table on the right.

Click the blue arrow to add the plank to the profile. Planks can be adjusted per profile. After a plank is added to the profile, the Order can be edited for the profile. To change the order in which the planks display, enter a number (1 = first in the list, 2 = second).

  5. Click OK to save.

Link the profile to a port

After the profile is created, it must be linked to a port within the Wise configuration manager at Port and profile management > Ports > Pubcat.
