Carousel planks

Learn how to create carousel planks, or a panel of titles that appear in a carousel.

After carousel rules are defined, planks can be created. A plank is a panel of titles that appears in the carousel. Defining planks allows you to specify which line(s) (title sets) should display and which sources should be included.

To define a carousel plank:

  1. In the Wise configuration manager, go to OCLC Wise > Carousel > Carousel planks.
  2. Click New to create a new plank, or click Detail next to an existing plank to edit. The Info column shelves window opens.
  3. Enter plank information. Select Change to edit existing details.
    Field/section Description
Description Enter a text description of the plank. The description appears in the carousel.
Display (first) description line? Check this box to include the description of the first line included in the plank instead of the description of the plank itself. For example, if a plank of Holidays is created and includes lines for Easter and Christmas, check this box to show the line description instead of "Holidays". By default, the plank description is used.
Display shelf? Check this box to make the plank available in the carousel.
    Shelf policy

Select the policy (Carousel rules) to include in this plank. All available rules display in the table on the right.

Click the blue arrow to add the rule to the plank. Rules can be adjusted per plank. After a rule is added to the plank, the Max. number, Default handle, and Range can be edited for this plank.

  4. Click OK to save.
