Relocate items
The Relocate function allows you to quickly transfer one or more items to the collection of a different branch. Items can only be transferred to lending branches. This function can be accessed in the Wise client at Items > Relocate.
Relocate an item
- Go to Items > Relocate. The Relocate window opens.
- Select the branch for relocation from the To branch menu and click OK.
- Optional. Check the With confirmation to check for holds on the item and/or Report last item with title to check whether this is the last copy of the title in your collection.
- Scan or enter the item barcode. The screen is populated with title information.
- Click Relocate. A confirmation appears and the item appears in the system with the status T - In Transit. If the With confirmation box is not checked, you can relocate additional items without disruption.
Shelf placement of relocated items
Items that are relocated are assigned a shelf placement according to the shelves of the receiving branch. It is possible to include a temporary shelf for collections (project, title, changing, and separate collections). This can be entered for each collection.
Return a relocated item to the original owner
No term is connected to the period of time a relocated item can stay at a receiving branch.
An item can be returned using the Relocate an item process.
Place materials on transport
When a library wants to manually place an item on transport, for example when a fellow library makes a request for receipt of certain items for a lecture, exhibit, etc., the system works as follows:
- Create a special account for the receiving library. The card should belong to branch 1111.
- Check out the items to this card.
- Place the items in the transport area. The materials are not really placed on the transport, so no transport slip is created.
- (Optional) An overview of checked-out materials can be printed within a customer account at Print customer materials > Checkout overview. This overview can be sent with the materials.
- The items arrive at the receiving library.
- Do not check in the items. Immediately check them out on the card of the customer, or if the items are to stay at the receiving library, check out the items on an internal card, or simply do not check them out.
- Once the items are checked in, they are included in the regular transport procedure and placed on transport to the owner.
