Service Point Holds

Learn how to process Service Point Holds

Place hold requests for off-site Service Point pickup

Service Point Holds utilizes the Service Point functionality of Holds Delivery. This functionality allows customers to pick-up items at external, off-site locations.

Place a hold for Service Point pickup

To request a hold on a title for Service Point pickup:

  1. Log in to the web catalog.
  2. Search the catalog for the item to be held.
  3. Click the Place a hold button. The Hold screen opens.
  4. If configured by your library, you have the option to select a Service Point as the pick-up location.
  5. Once a hold is placed, you will see the details of your hold as well as any updates in My Account > My Holds.

 Note: As the item moves through the internal fulfillment process, the 'In Process' label will also update.

Processing Service Point Holds

  1. View the hold in the Staff client, in Customer Administration > Holds.
  2. The item will appear on the Shelf List of any branch with an available copy.
  3. The branch with an available copy will pull the item from the shelf and check in the item to trap the hold.

     Note: When checked in, a pop-up message will appear notifying staff that there is a hold on the item, and it should be transported to the branch that manages the Service Point the customer has selected.

  4. Transport receipt is printed. Send item to the managing branch.
  5. After the item is recieved and checked in, a pop-up will notify staff that the item is on hold for pick-up at the selected Service Point.
  6. Enable Checkout via delivery process mode. This mode allows staff to check out the item to a customer who is not present.
  7. Wise will confirm that delivery process mode is enabled.
  8. Select OK Note: The barcode field will become yellow when in this check out mode.
  9. Scan the item barcode. Wise will check out the item to the customer who placed the hold.
  10. The customer will receive a notification that the item is ready for pick-up at the selected Service Point.
  11. Item should then be delivered to the selected Service Point for the customer to retrieve.
