Branch offline folder

If the workstation loses its connection to the server, Wise switches to backup mode. In this mode, items can be checked in and checked out and the system keeps a record of transactions which is stored on the server to be processed when the system is online again.

To set a storage location:

  1. Click Change next to Branch offline folder. A file selection window appears.
  2. Select whether the offline files should be placed on a central disk or saved locally (ex: personal computer/workplace).
  3. Click Open. The selected location is saved as the Branch offline folder.

Cash drawer in Wise Client

If the workstation does not use a cash drawer, the cash drawer can be deactivated from the checkout process by checking the Do NOT offer cash drawer in payment block.

Note: To configure cash drawer opening behavior, see Cash handling.

Wise Client option active

Wise Client option active allows you to check if a system option is currently activated for your workstation.

To see if a system option is active, type the option in the search box and click Active? A message will display below the field indicating if the system option is active. If an option does not exist, or if you have incorrectly entered the name, a message will appear that the option does not exist.

Show RFID animation

When using RFID, an RFID symbol can be enabled at each workstation. The animation is a red circle (RFID.png) that moves up and disappears. To enable the animation, check the box Show RFID animation.

RFID animation can also be disabled by right-clicking on the red circle anywhere in the Wise interface and selecting Yes.

System notifications

When working in the Wise staff client, a system notification can be enabled to alert you when a new hold has been placed at your branch. To enable the notification, select one or both of the following checkboxes:

  • Popup - If selected, you will receive a system notification pop-up when a hold is placed on an available item. From the pop-up, click Start the shelf list to generate a shelf list containing the new hold.
  • Sound - If selected, the system notification pop-up will play your selected sound when a hold is placed on a copy with a status B.
Note: You will need to select a Value for wise.system.notification on the Sound settings tab if you enable this option.
  • Taskbar notification - If selected, a blinking system notification appears in the top bar of the screen, and a megaphone icon appears in the bottom left when a hold is placed on an available item.

The system notification pop-up will remain open for 30 minutes. If an additional hold is placed within 30 minutes, no new notification will appear and it will join the first hold. If the branch is closed at the time of the hold request being placed, no notification will appear.

Once you start the shelf list, the system notification pop-up closes. Any new holds received after you have started the shelf list will generate a new system notification pop-up.
