CloudLibrary integration

Learn how to configure CloudLibrary to display in your OPAC.

CloudLibrary integration

Libraries with a CloudLibrary eContent subscription can integrate CloudLibrary into their OPAC.

This integration will include the following changes:

  • Manager: Creates a new system option for adding account information and enabling the integration
  • Indexing: Includes CloudLibrary titles and cover art in Wise search results, availability information, the operation of Facets, and the "Sort on" filter.
  • Facet terms: Provides the supplied terms for facet-related metadata (e.g. Language, Material type) in such a way that they can be included in the internal "crosswalk" reference table to combine facet values with values from other third-party providers and the library's own nomenclature
  • Full Title View: Displays CloudLibrary titles in a Full Title View page with all relevant operations (e.g. Checkout, Hold) and data (e.g. metadata, availability, NoveList recommendations)
  • Access operations: Provides customers with the appropriate methods to consume the materials by linking directly to CloudLibrary, downloading to the customer's device, etc.
  • My Account:  Includes CloudLibrary title information in My Checkouts > Digital Content and My Holds > Digital Content displays

Configure CloudLibrary

To configure CloudLibrary to display in your library's OPAC:

  1. In the Wise Manager, enable the system option EXTCCLL.
  2. Add CloudLibrary to your  external systems:
    1. In the Wise manager, navigate to Management organizations > External systems > CloudLibrary.
    2. Select, New. The EAC (External account) window will open.
    3. Provide the following information:
      • Account ID
      • Access Key
      • API URL
      • Library ID
      • Library URL ID
      • Web reader URL
    4. Select OK to save.
    5. Clear your Browser Cache and login to the Wise Manager. These settings should now be configured.

Note:  To ensure CloudLibrary e-resources appear in the correct Grouped Search results, libraries must update the MDT (Media type) table in the Wise Manager to define which media group(s) e-resource material types should be grouped with (for example, whether an eBook should group with print books, or an eAudiobook with audiobooks). Without this MDT configuration, e-resource records will not group as expected in the OPAC.

CloudLibrary display in the OPAC

By default, the Wise OPAC integrates CloudLibrary digital titles into the core discovery experience so patrons can find physical and digital formats together in one search flow. CloudLibrary data is refreshed into Solr on a regular interval to keep the index in sync, and CloudLibrary titles contribute to the Available Now filter using near real-time availability information.

When Grouped Search is enabled, CloudLibrary e-content (eBooks, eAudiobooks, etc.) is also grouped alongside physical formats (books, DVDs, CDs, etc.) using the existing FRBR-based grouping mechanism.

Note: It is possible to configure CloudLibrary resources to display separately in the OPAC using a dedicated virtual branch. This configuration allows a separate CloudLibrary filter to appear under Available now in the OPAC, and CloudLibrary digital collection counts are not included in branch collection counts.  For more information, see Setting up CloudLibrary, Libby, and Hoopla.
