Configure Item request manager
Learn how to configure access to the Item request manager in Wise.
In order for library customers to submit requests for items to be purchased and added to your library's collections, the Item Request Manager (IRM) needs to be configured in the Wise manager. The following steps must be taken for the Item Request Manager to be used by the customer and library staff.
Add license
The license Lic_Item_Request_Manager must be enabled to use the Item request manager. Contact OCLC Support for assistance.
Add Roles
- In the Wise configuration manager, go to systemWise > Access codes and authorizations > Roles.
- Choose System Administrator account.
- Click on Display functions.
- Ensure that the following roles are activated:
- 'Working on item requests from customer'
- 'Work on the item request configuration, such as statuses'

Configure default statuses
Set default statuses
Once default statuses have been configured, they must be applied in the Settings window. To set default statuses:
- Click the Settings box in the right corner of the screen. The Settings window opens.
- Make the following selections:
- Default status - New
- Customer Cancel Status - Customer canceled
- Click Apply.
Allow customers to make requests via My account
OCLC Support to set up a request limit.
Note: The number of requests that a customer is able to submit can be limited. Contact- In the Wise configuration manager, go to OCLC Wise > Products and services > Subscriptions > Card configurations > My Menu configuration.
- Click Open for the organization listed.
- Click detail.
- Ensure that the following role is activated:
- 'May manage material requests'

Activate material types for request
- In the Wise configuration manager, go to OCLC Wise > Titles and SCAT management > Titles > System tables.
- Click on MDT (media type).
- Click detail for the material type that is allowed to be requested for purchase by the customer.
- Click on Available for Item Request.
- Click OK.
