Title relationships

Title descriptions provide information about the title record in Wise. 

Types of title relationships

Relationships can be created between titles to establish a connection. When a relationship is established between two titles, Wise automatically creates a reciprocal relationship. The following relationship types can be established in Wise:

  • Equal relationship
  • Movie adaptation/adapted for the screen
  • Volume of main title/Main title of volume
  • Work in a compilation/Compilation
  • Subtitle/track

Establish a title relationship

To establish a title relationship:

  1. Search for the title that you would like to add a relationship to. 
  2. Within the title details screen, click the New title relation button (new_title_relation_button.png) in the bottom bar. The New relation window opens. 
  3. Select the relationship type. The following options are available: 
    • Has an equal relation with
    • Is the film adaptation of
    • Has been adopted for the screen as
    • Is volume of main title
    • Is main title of volume
    • Is a work in a container
    • Is container
    • Is a subtitle/track of
    • Is (main) title of subtitle/track
  4. Click Catalog to search for the other title in the relationship. 
  5. Once the appropriate title is found, click Select
  6. Click OK to save the title relationship. 

View title relationships 

Relationships established in the staff client are only visible in the staff client catalog and do not appear in the web catalog. Relationships are represented on the title detail screen. If one or more relationship(s) have been established for the selected title, blue arrows will display below the title. When an arrow is clicked, the screen will display related items.
