Unable to process a hold

Find information about the reasons why a hold request may not be processed.

In some situations, hold requests cannot be processed. This may happen if:

  • The item is blocked for hold requests
  • The window time has not yet expired. The window time is the period, in days, during which new items cannot be reserved
  • Titles with a certain SCAT can be restricted to youth
  • The material type is not entered or is incorrectly entered in the customer's arrangement
  • The material type is restricted against holds
  • One of the items is not properly linked (i.e., due to duplicate type), causing the system to treat the title as adult or youth and link the hold request settings of the selected material type
  • The owner of the available item is not entered in the hold request network
  • The customer has reached the maximum number of holds allowed on their account

Lending blocks

Lending blocks have no effect on a hold request. A lending block can be configured to delay lending of items. If a lending block is configured for an item, Wise will not look for items with an associated yearly volume title. As a result, these items cannot be reserved.
