Home Delivery Holds

Learn how to process Home Delivery hold requests.

Place hold requests for Home Delivery

The Home Delivery hold request process utilizes the Transport aspect of Hold Delivery.

Place a hold for home delivery

To request a hold on a title for Home Delivery:

  1. Log in to the web catalog.
  2. Search the catalog for the item to be held.
  3. Click the Place a hold button. The Hold screen opens.
  4. If configured by your library, you will have the option to select a pick-up location under the Delivery section.
  5. Once a hold is placed, you will see the details of your hold as well as any updates in My Account > My Holds.

Note: As the item moves through the internal fulfillment process, the 'In Process' label will also update.

Processing home delivery hold requests

  1. View the hold in the Staff client, in Customer Administration > Holds. The item on hold will appear on the Shelf List along with other items to fulfill holds.

Note: It is required to configure a Management Branch for Delivery Processing. Wise will send items to fulfill delivery process holds to this branch. (maybe this step should be included at the top of the page as "Configuration steps")

  2. Pull the item from the shelf check in to receive instructions on where to send the item.
  3. If desired, a transport receipt will print to place inside the item.
  4. Once the item arrives at it's destination, it is checked in. Wise will notify staff that the item is for a home delivery process.
  5. If desired, a hold receipt is printed.
  6. Enable Checkout via delivery process mode. This mode allows staff to check out the item to a customer who is not present.
  7. Wise will confirm that delivery process mode is enabled.
  8. Select OK.

Note: The barcode field will become yellow when in this check out mode.

  9. Scan the item barcode. Wise will check out the item to the customer who placed the hold.
  10. A Delivery Process receipt will print. This receipt includes general pick-up/return instructions and is meant to be placed in the item.
  11. Item is then delivered by the library to the customer's home.
