Holds shelf
The Holds shelf in the Wise Console is equivalent to the Hold Shelf in the Wise Client. Locate the Holds shelf in the Wise Console > Circulation > Holds shelf.
Generate an unclaimed holds list
To view a list of unclaimed holds in the Console:
- Navigate to Circulation > Holds Shelf. The list will automatically populate with the following default criteria:
- The held items are located at the staff member’s logged-in branch (local branch).
- The items are unclaimed (items have exceeded the number of days on shelf as configured in the Manager)
- The sort order is set to Customer name A-Z.
- All hold sources are included.
- All notification types are included.
- If desired, change the sort order of the list using the Sort By drop-down in the top-right of the screen.
- Click the Filter(s) button on the upper left of the list to expand the filters. Staff can change the following criteria
- Only show expired holds within the list: Choose whether to see all holds that meet the criteria, or only holds that are unclaimed (the # of days on shelf, as configured in the Manager, has been exceeded)
- Local branch: Where the Held items are located
- Source: Where the hold was placed.
- Notification date: Filters the Hold Shelf to display items where the patron was notified within a date range
- Notification type: How the patron was notified that their item is Held.
Note: Only the patron’s primary notification type is used in the report output.
- If changes are made to any of the filters, the Apply or Cancel buttons appear. Click to apply the changes or to cancel and continue making selections.
Note: To view more information about the items that appear in the list, use the down arrow next to each item to expand the line.
The additional information found by expanding the line includes:
- Expanded title name
- Hold request number
- Shelf/call number
- Notification date
- Title ID
- Hold status
- Source
Print the Holds Shelf BIRT report
The Holds Shelf BIRT report provides a current report of items that are or should be on the holds shelf. This report is the same Hold Shelf BIRT report that can be generated via the Wise staff client.
- Navigate to the Holds shelf tab in the Wise Console > Circulation.
- Click Print. The Print holds shelf list overview screen opens.
- Provide overview information (required fields are marked with an (*) asterisk.):
Field Description Branch* Select the branch for which to generate a shelf list. By default, the branch of the account that is signed in is selected. Sorting* Select the sorting order for the overview. The overview can be sorted by:
- L - Customer Name
- N - Customer Number
- R - Hold Request Date
- T - Title
Only unclaimed holds? Select whether to display only unclaimed holds:
- Yes - only display hold that are unclaimed.
- No - All items on the holds shelf are reported.
Notification date Provide the date range for when a message was sent. The hold requests that match the entered dates will have status B - Message or O - Received.
Note: This field is not required. If no date is provided, the report will display only items that are past due for pick up.
- Click Print. The Holds shelf BIRT report opens in a new browser tab.
