Create items on the fly
Find information on how to create items on the fly when unknown items are scanned during check out.
If a customer attempts to check out an item that is unknown to the Wise system, a notification will appear on the Console check-out screen and staff will have the option to allow the item to be loaned or not.
Note: Unknown items cannot be checked out if the NO_FLY system option is configured.
If check out of unknown items is allowed, the following workflow will be available when an unknown item is scanned at check out:
- If no matching item is found when the barcode is scanned, the Create Record screen will appear:
- Material type and SCAT code are required fields and must be completed to proceed with checkout. The system will prompt you if these fields have not been completed.
- Add an attachment note and volume information, if applicable.
- Click Create.
- The item is created and checked out to the customer.
