Check in
To check in items within the Wise Console:
- Navigate to the Circulation tab
- By default, the Check in page opens
- Scan or enter in item barcode in the Item barcode field. If using a mobile device with a camera, you can click on the barcode icon in the item barcode field to scan the item's barcode using the camera.
- The item is now checked in and information about the item displays in the table below the check in field.
- Click the chevron next to an item to view more information.
Multiple items can be checked in during a session. If you navigate away from the check in screen while a session is still open, the checked-in items will be retained on the screen when you return, until you end the session.
The customer record is not returned when an item is checked in but you are able to view the item record and customer record by clicking on the related barcode in the check in detail screen. When you are finished checking items in, click End session to complete the check in process.
Change check in date
Library staff can change the return date when checking materials in from the Console. This feature can be used when checking in materials from the book drop or after a system outage. To enable this feature, the system option CIRCDAT must be set to Yes.
To change the return date:
- Sign into the Console with a role that has circulation permissions.
- Go to Circulation > Check in.
- Click into the Return date field and type in the date (in MM/DD/YYYY format), or click the Calendar icon and click on the date for which you want to check in items. When the date has been changed, the screen displays the word Adjusted above the Return date field.
- Check in the items. The item return date is stored as the date selected.
Once check in is completed, close the session to restore the current date. This date change only applies to check in activities.
Print receipt(s)
To print receipt(s) for patrons at the end of the session:
- Toggle the Print receipt(s), so that that slider turns blue (default toggle: on):
- When Print receipt(s) toggle is on, when the End session button is selected, a pop-up window will open.
- Select which customer(s) from the session need a printed receipt.
- Select, Print to print individual customer receipts.
