Lockout settings

Learn how to use lockout settings to control the number of times that a staff or customer account has a failed login attempt before the account is blocked.

Lockout settings are located in the Wise configuration manager at systemWise > systemWise > Lockout settings

Lockout settings

Lockout settings allows you to control the number of times that a staff or customer account has a failed login attempt before the account is blocked. The following fields can be configured: 

Field Description
Application 

Select a client type from the drop-down menu:

  • M - Manager
  • W - Marketing workbench
  • C - Wise console
  • B - BNG client
  • I - Webcat/Portal
Look back period in minutes The amount of time allowed between login attempts.
Attempts The number of login attempts that the system allows. 
Block period in minutes The amount of time, in minutes that an account stays blocked after the failed login attempt threshold is reached. 
Maximum attempts per IP address The maximum number of login attempts per IP address. 

IP block

The IP block table provides a list of IP addresses that have been blocked based on the criteria set in Lockout settings. Within the IP block table, you can also unblock IP addresses using the delete blocked address feature. If there is a block on the IP address, this feature will delete the block,or delete the failed attempt which could lead to a block.

 Note: If a user is able to successfully sign in, their username will automatically be removed from the table.

The following information about blocked IP addresses appears:

Field Description
IP address The IP address of the blocked user.
Username The username associated with the blocked login attempts.
Blocked until The date and time that the IP address is blocked until. 
Client type The application where the blocked login attempt occurred. 
Last attempt The date and time of the last login attempt.
