The Categories table contains title codes and their definitions. Any changes to this table must be requested through OCLC.

Caution: These fields should only be modified in consultation with OCLC. OCLC is not responsible for the consequences of modifications made without consultation. Changes to Categories take at least 24-hours to appear in the staff client. Contact OCLC Support for assistance.

The Categories table is located in the Wise configuration manager at OCLC Wise > Titles and SCAT management > Titles > Categories.

Category codes for titles consist of a series of descriptive numbers or letters that are generated from multiple tables in Wise configuration manager. These sections are broken down into fixed fields, text fields, and index fields. The information in this table controls the fields displayed in the Catalog. In the Catalog, you can hover over a field description to see its configuration code, which correlates to this table.
