Establish item relationships

Learn how to establish or remove item relationships in the Wise staff client.

The Relationships menu can be used to connect two items that are part of a route collection and can travel the same route as often as possible. If configured, Wise will establish relationships between volumes for umbrella offerings in large-print books.

Establish an item relationship

To establish a relationship:

  1. Go to Items > Relationships.
  2. Scan or enter the item barcode or the first item. The item becomes the primary item.
  3. Scan the item barcode of the second item. The item becomes the secondary item to the primary item. Additional secondary items can be added by scanning the barcode.
  4. Click Save related items for main item. The processed relationship items appear in the log panel on the right side of the screen in a folder structure. The folder is given the name of the barcode and title of the primary title. To view the secondary item, open the folder.

Remove an item relationship 

To end an established relationship:

  1. Go to Items > Relationships.
  2. Scan or enter the barcode for the primary item. The related items display in the list below.
  3. Select the secondary item(s) you want to remove.
  4. Click Remove selected related items. A confirmation message appears.
  5. Click Yes. The items are no longer related.
