Wise Community title lists

Find information about list functionality for the new OPAC and Wise Community.

A Community profile allows a user to create their own title lists. For example, a list of favorite movies, CDs from a certain genres of music, or books on a particular topic, etc.

Add a title to a list

You can add a title from the search results and from the title detail page by clicking on Add to list. This opens a pop-up window.

Creating a list

If a user has not previously created a list the title can only be added to a new list. To add a title to a new list:

  1.  Click Add to new list.
  2. Enter the desired name and description for the list.
  3. Indication whether the list should be visible to other users.
  4. Click Add to new list to create the list and add the title.
  5. If you would like to view the newly created list click View list.

Existing lists

If the user already has one or more lists a title can be added to them:

  1. Select the desired list from the dropdown under Other Lists.
  2. Click Add to add the title.

Note: Wishlists are not part of Wise Community. This list is stored in Wise's own system. A Wishlist contains titles that the user would like to borrow someday. This list cleans itself: once an item is borrowed from the Wish List, that title disappears from the list.

Remove a title from a list

To remove a title from a list:

  1. Open the list.
  2. Find the title you want to remove.
  3. Click Delete.

View a title list

Title lists can be accessed in several ways: from the title detail page, the Community profile, or immediately after adding a title.

From the Title Detail page

Open the Lists tab to see all the lists the title appears in. Then click on the name of the list to open it.

From the Community Profile

A user's own lists can be viewed in the Community profile by going to My Account> [Community profile name] >Lists and clicking on the name of the list to open it.

It is also possible to view other users' lists. To do so, go to the Wise Community homepage, select Nickname and search for the user's nickname.  Open the user's Community profile and go to the Lists tab. Then click on the name of the list to open it.

After adding a title

Immediately after adding a title, the option to view the list appears.

Search within a set of title lists

Go to an overview of lists, as described above. By clicking on a column heading at the top, the overview can be sorted. By clicking on the information-i you will see the description that the list owner has given to the title list.

Above the list of title lists is a search window. As soon as something is typed, the hits within this set of title lists are displayed.

URLs for list sets

The URL for a set of title lists is simple and easy to publish on the library website.

Example URL:

https://servernaam/wise-apps/opac/54...nity-list/4205

    5490 = branch number
4205 = the Wise Community title list

Viewing title lists in the new OPAC

Wise Community title lists are displayed in the catalog, which allows users to take advantage of all the benefits of this, such as filtering by facets and reservation. At the top left, you can see the name and creator of the list:

Unavailable titles

When viewing a Community list, sometimes the message “[number] titles are locally unavailable” appears above the facets. The reason for this is that the title list was created in a different Wise system than the system in which the list is queried, and not all titles can be found there.
