Styling the new Wise OPAC

Learn about styling options available for the new OPAC.

Some customization of the styling of the new OPAC can be done using the Wise Manager. If you turn on the system option OPACCFG, you will see a new menu item in the Manager under systemWise > Wisecat+ configuration. In this menu, you will find the options Wisecat+ menu, Wisecat+ styling, and Wisecat+ homepage. Below is a brief description of how these options affect the new OPAC.

Wisecat+ menu

The following settings can be adjusted under Wisecat+ configuration > Wisecat+ menu:

  • Menu configuration: You can set which menu items you want to display in the new OPAC.
  • Logo: You can upload a logo to display in Wisecat+.
  • Favicon: You can set a favicon. This is the icon you see in the browser tab. The default favicon is the Wise logo.

Wisecat+ styling

This menu allows you to set the desired OPAC theme for each instance. There are two standard themes available, and the theme selected determines what color scheme is used in the OPAC, as well as what the buttons, text and headers look like.

You can use these themes as a base and modify them if necessary, or upload your own (custom) theme.

Set Theme

To set or customize the theme used by the new OPAC:

  1. Go to systemWise > Wisecat+ configuration > Wisecat+ styling.
  2. Click Detail by the instance whose theme you want to change or click New to create a new line.
  3. Select the desired theme from the Wisecat+ theme drop-down menu:
    • PRESIDENTIAL_BLUE - Presidential blue
    • ROYAL_ORANGE - Royal orange
    • DUTCH_NATIONAL_STYLE - OCLC style
    • CUSTOM - Changed 
  4. If a custom theme is desired, select CUSTOM- Changed and paste the desired CSS into the Custom CSS and/or Additional CSS fields.
    • Custom CSS: Use this field if you will be setting a completely custom theme. This field is not available when choosing one of the default themes.
    • Additional CSS: Use this field if, in addition to your theme, you will need to style one or a few HTML elements. This field can be used with all themes (standard and custom).
  5. Click OK to save these changes.

 Note:Custom styling does not work for wrapped pages.

The DUTCH_NATIONAL_STYLE - OCLC style theme was made available as of version 8.0.0. This is an updated version of the ROYAL_ORANGE - Royal orange theme. The styling as found in this stylesheet is created once by OCLC and not maintained. You can make your own adjustments via the Custom CSS fields. If you need assistance with this, please contact .

Publish styling changes

To publish the new OPAC styling once you are satisfied with your changes:

  1. Go to SystemWise > SystemWise > System Options.   
  2. Click on New and under Option choose OPACV2L.
  3. Under Establishment enter the instance for which you want to publish the new styling for.
  4. Click Yes under On, and then click Ok.

Styling CGI pages

Because some of the pages in the new OPAC are “wrapped” and not yet rewritten in Angular, the formatting of these pages is not affected by the Wisecat+ styling menu options. As a result, you may have chosen the Presidential blue theme in Wisecat+ styling, but will still see certain elements in orange.

The following settings can be adjusted under Wisecat+ configuration > Wisecat+ homepage:

  • Organization
  • Carousel profile
  • Carousel visibility
  • Show Wise Community's recent activity
  • Show Wise Community tags
  • Show youth links
