About notifications

Wise evaluates and sends notifications to customers for:

  • Checked out items once a day, based on due date
  • Hold requests on an hourly basis

Depending on your system configuration, notifications are sent to your customers to remind them to return or pick up items. For more information about configuring notifications, see Notification preference configuration.

Notifications are recorded in a Notifications table. For each notification sent, a line is added to the table that includes the following information:

  • Notification format
  • Notification date
  • Selection date
  • Other related information

Note: The Notification table is only visible to system administrators.

When the notification lines are saved, the messages are generated. Text and email notifications are automatically sent and print mail notifications are printed via the client workstation to be manually sent to customers. The Notifications menu pertains primarily to printed notifications, although users can also generate Overviews from this menu to view details about electronically generated notifications.

At the same time as writing to the message table, the messages are created and sent by mail (form M) and text message (form S).
