Create a community profile
A customer can create and personalize a Community profile via My Account options.
Create an account
Conditions for creating a community profile:
- The customer's email address must be included.
- The customer must be a person, not an institution or school.
- The library membership allows it (via the 'My Menu configuration' used).
- There are no fines on the customer’s account.
How to create a community profile:
- Log in to the library site.
- Go to My Account.
- Select Create a Community profile. A Terms and Conditions window opens.
- Review the terms and check I have read and agree to the Terms and Conditions box.
- Click Agree. The Preferred nickname window opens.
- Enter a Preferred nickname.
Note: Your nickname will be visible to others, so do not include any sensitive information, such as your PIN, zip code, or account number in the nickname.
- Click Submit.
Once a Community account is created, the customer will always be logged in to the account when they sign into the web catalog.
Edit your Community profile
When a customer registers for a Community profile, they can customize Community account settings.
In the Wise catalog, go to My Account and click on your Community account name. It appears as username (Profile/Inbox) in the menu. The Community profile overview page opens. Click on Settings to view and edit profile information. On this page, you can perform the following actions:
Change nickname
To change your selected nickname:
- Click Change nickname in the upper-right corner of the screen. A Change nickname window opens.
- Enter a new nickname in the Preferred nickname field.
- Click Save.
Personal settings
Select the visibility of your ratings and reviews under the Personal Settings section of the screen. The following elements can be adjusted to be visible to Nobody, Friends, or Everyone:
- Show name
- Show location
- Show age
- Show friendship
Click Save to save changes.
General
The information displayed under general cannot be edited. This is the information that appears in the customer profile and can be made visible to other Community users.
About myself
Customers can add a brief bio in the About myself box. Click Save to save the information.
Select an avatar
Customers can select an avatar to represent their Community profile. Only images that come from a standard set of avatars provided by OCLC can be used.
Delete a Community profile
Users can choose to delete their Community profile. To delete a profile, navigate to the Settings screen and click the Delete profile tab.
